Foundational Principles
of
The Marriage Foundation

(The Marriage Foundation is not affiliated with any religion or dogma)

The foundational principles we list are the basis of our philosophies, philosophies we know to be fundamental to successful marital relationships. The “spiritual” aspects of life, often shunned in public as politically incorrect, are critically important to understanding and growing health relationships, both personal and social. We do not agree that our spiritual “side” is merely part of our psychology. We believe that in order to help anyone achieve the love and security we all need and desire it is necessary to explore and identify where love and connection come from.

The Marriage Foundation also believes, and it is at the root of our core existence, that education about every aspect of marriage and families is the essential first step for all of us. Perhaps it could be said that our first principle is that nobody should enter into a relationship without a healthy grasp of the other gender and the dynamics of relationships.

The reason we carefully list out core principles is so those who wish to replace any principles they disagree with, may easily do so. Our aim is to help all become more aware of their opportunities and less victims of fate or past errors. The possibilities of marriage have not been explored by the general public or by the established professionals at large. We wish to change the discussions of relationships from ‘how to save them’ to ‘how to make them dreams come true.’

The world we live in

Self

  • We are, at our essence, (spiritual) consciousness. Each possessing a psychological mind and physical body, but we are not a body, nor a mind
  • Over-identification with either the body or mind, thinking it is what you are, creates pain, suffering and hopelessness
  • We have the innate ability to know our self as a soul by withdrawing our consciousness from the body and mind

The Mind

  • The mind is an unseen two (major) part, invisible entity that “nests” within the physical brain.
  • The commonly held “professional” beliefs about the mind, which are devoid of acceptance of spirit, are useless because they do not describe how the mind works or how to control it. The soul is the real you who is in charge of the mind
  • The mind is comprised of “upper” and “lower” parts. The upper mind is the soul. The lower mind is tied to creation. The combined mind, we think of as our “self” is temporary – not actually who we are.

The Body

  • Our body is our possession, but most of us are slaves (to one degree or another) to its every whim
  • Bodies are biologically driven by two innate forces; survival and procreation, which when unattended, drives the psychology of those not self-trained to control the mind
  • The body requires proper diet, oxygen and exercise

Marriage

  • Marriage was created by God to be a sacred space
  • Marriage is a sacred space separated and apart from the rest of the world
  • The greatest benefit of marriage is largely unknown by mankind, to experience soul connection

Children

  • Children are God’s children. He is our boss when we raise them for Him
  • We are responsible to be the best people we know how to be, to set examples for our children
  • It is our job to provide the protection and education our children will need to have productive and successful lives
  • Nobody should have a child without a thorough practical education so they know what they are getting into
  • Children suffer immeasurably from broken homes-society has desensitized us to the realities

General

  • We are all entitled to happiness
  • We are all obligated to serve others ahead of ourselves
  • The unit of measure of a society is the family, not the individual
  • All of our actions affect everyone else
  • Money is not the root of all evil, and there are numerous other misconceptions about life based on prejudice, dogma and God knows what else…each idea should be challenged
  • Nobody owes anybody anything

Finding a Soul mate

  • Souls are what we all are, soul mates are real
  • Faces, bodies and minds are reflections of the soul
  • There are practical methods to define and find your soul mate
  • The world’s knowledge will bring you to the same place as most in the world; divorce
  • There is no need to settle because our perfect match is waiting
